I’m a woman… and I like porn

The other day a friend told me that women don’t like to consume porn. I told him that this opinion was wrong and also added a statement for women. Although it’s surprising, women watch this genre despite the fact that this type of movies, as some say, were created exclusively for men.

But, why do men have a tendency to think we don’t like porn movies? The genre itself is simple and basic, because normally the people who watch them are looking for quick excitement, nothing else. And sometimes, women need this offer too, just like men.

If it’s culture you want, I’d recommend you watch movies with a more complex argument. Porn movies have a superficial development of their screenplay and the plot is just “sex” in “somewhere”.

As I have read, porn is a genre that women should hate for obligation and tradition. Excuse me. It turns out that if a woman likes porn she is against the morally acceptable, against women. Why? I disagree with those reviews that say that women who see porn act against themselves. I gasp when someone tells me that I’m a traitor just because I am seeing a porn movie. In this moment, I just think about one thing: there are so many things that have to change in this world.

But that’s the controversy with porn around the world, from the city of Berlin that everyone assumes is so open and cosmopolitan to the small village lost in deep Germany. Maybe Berlin wouldn’t be an example of a city with no place for porn, quite the contrary as we smell modernity in every corner on the streets of the capital, full of extremisms and everything that breaks with a straight system.

Personally I have always believed, seen and ENJOYED porn as a fantasy but I also understand those who watch this genre for something as simple as it is, for learning.

The problem is that porn will be always a controversial subject. There are many porn related dilemmas that I don’t know what to think of. For example, does this genre kill sexual desire or, on the contrary, does watching porn encourage this practice in our relationships? For some porn can encourage sexual desire and for others it is just another relaxing entertainment.

The fact is that in the world in which we live today which is so liberal, so open, so permissive… why does society hamper something as simple as sex. Nobody seems to remember that the sexual act has been done since the beginning of our days and that without it, none of us would be here. So, why are we so embarrased about explicit sex?

According to Helmut Newton, the feminine body is a naked sculpture among the skyscrapers of the urban space, a figure of white skin with high heels, painted nails and half black stockings. His work is erotic, provocative and even violent. Accordong to this Australian photographer born in Berlin (1920-2004), the woman is much more than a fashion mannequin and a sex symbol; the female body is an aesthetic that is renewed again and again in front of his objective…

One who does not know Helmut Newton should not know who Coco Chanel is either, another fashion icon fascinated with female forms. Newton published for prestigious magazines like Vogue, Elle, Playboy, Marie-Claire, so you’ve surely already seen one of his fashion photographs. They are erotic and provocative images. His photographs sometimes seem like movie images where men’s sexual fantasies come true, like two women kissing or one slapping the other… This is always done with elegance, glamour and a touch of classicism. He takes black and white images as well, offering light contrasts, lines and fantastic volumes.

We recommend you pay attention to fashion and nude photography; visit the Newton exhibition until May 16th at the Photography Museum in Berlin. The German capital houses also the Newton Foundation.

In female circles, Newton has been widely criticized because of the image he transmits of women. Many think they are macho, that they lack dignity and have been reduced to an object of male perversions, where women are exposed as ham whose taste would be for the lewd and the voyeur. But the woman is multiple, she has not just one face and Helmut Newton spent his entire life photographing her and creating an ode to the female body.

Take advantage of a stay in Berlin to discover the fascinating art of this talented photographer, who shows women as they are: a treasure of nature that arouse inspiration to anyone. Invite your partner to Germany, rent Apartments in Berlin and savour the simple things of the life.
