Unter den Linden Berlin

Do you think you’d like to visit Berlin? Okay, here is some advice to help you understand where to go and what to see. You will love it! Berlin offers places of great beauty: many areas of the city have undergone transformations and reconstruction after the devastation of the war. Almost all the interesting places are located in the fashionable district of the capital: Mitte.

In 15 years Mitte has become the main downtown district of the city. This fascinating quarter includes many of the streets and famous places of tourist attraction in Berlin. The area close to this neighbourhood has experienced important improvements. Today it has new clubs, bars and buildings.

In this neighbourhood is located one of the most famous streets of the capital: Unter den Linden Avenue. This incredible place has gone through different historical phases. In fact, it is a place that cannot be excluded from any tourist itinerary. This wonderful street begins at the famous Brandenburg Gate and goes on until Museumsinsel. The name of the famous street refers to the Lime trees that flank it which were cut down in Hitler’s attempt to purify the city but were replanted only a few years after.

To stroll around this picturesque street is like being immersed in the past of Germany. But turning any corner you will quickly notice the modern buildings of the present-day Germany. It is as if there was a willingness to look to the future without forgetting the past.

This is a very sophisticated neighbourhood. Here is also located the street of fashion: Friedrickstrasse. Here we find luxury stores like Galeries Lafayette, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Mont Blanc, Cartier… This street is comparable to other streets in other major fashion cities like Regents Street in London, Via dei Condotti in Rome, Via Monte Napoleone in Milan and Vatci utca in Budapest.

The Checkpoint Charlie Museum is located in this district. It is dedicated to the historical events of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Cold War, and the espionage and conspiracies of the time. This museum was built at the same time as the Berlin Wall.
