One of the most popular German bands of the moment, The Baseballs, will perform in their hometown,Berlin, on August 24. If music is an essential part of your life and you like rock, this is certainly an event you won’t want to miss.

The Baseballs is a band with a short but successful career that has led them to the top of the charts in Europe. Formed in 2007, they began their career doing rock versions of popular songs like Hot´n´cold by Kate Perry, Crazy in Love by Beyonce or Rihanna´s hit Umbrella, which was used in a German TV series and rocketed them to stardom .
Their first album, Strike!, was released in 2009 and achieved great sales in Europe. A year later, it was reissued under the title Strike! Back with a new single: a cover of Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. Their success extends to countries likeAustralia, and they were also chosen to play as support with Jeff Beck during his 2010 tour.
Following a frenetic pace, they released their third album, Strings´n´Stripes, in 2011. The secret of their success lies in a rockabilly aesthetic and a casual, fun style which makes their rock´n´roll genuine.
Immersed in their European tour, their stop inBerlinwill be at the Spandau Citadel (Zitadelle Spandau), one of the best preserved Renaissance fortresses and among the most important inEurope. Built in 1200, it is one of the oldest buildings inBerlin. It was created based on Italian models: a square building with four bastions (which are baptized as King, Queen, Crown Prince andBrandenburg) and is completely surrounded by the waters of theHavelRiver.
Until the end of World War II it was used for military purposes. After a series of restorations, it was reopened to the public in 1989 as a cultural center.
